LV18 to visit Ipswich
The Boat That Rocked, AKA LV18 Lightship is all set to go on it’s first voyage for a number of years. This September Ipswich is welcoming her for a month and has set aside a berth at Ipswich Marina where she take pride of place.
Currently Harwich Haven Authority are embarking on a project to dredge the estuary which includes the quayside where the LV18 is berthed.
This has presented a fantastic opportunity for the ship and Ipswich. Ipswich Maritime Trust and several local businesses have voiced their excitement and wish to get involved where possible.

There are even plans for a temporary radio licence for RadioMiAmigo.
The LV18 and RadioMiAmigo host an annual event to celebrate offshore pirate radio and this year it’s the 9th – 19th August.
Local businesses in the area have enquired about the possibility of holding events onboard during her visit and it’s all looking very positive.
Tony O’Neil, the founder and trustee says the LV18 will play an ambassadorial role linking the historic towns of Harwich and Ipswich which, in turn, could help to create ongoing business links for the future.
The LV18 will depart Harwich at the end of August and Bluzer will be onboard for the historic journey and keep you up to date with events as they happen. We’ll be there when she departs and blogging her journey from Harwich Quayside, along the River Orwell to Ipswich
